Lynne Standish / Friday, May 1, 2020 / Categories: Clark Meadows Blog "The Marathon Man" For the past 20 years or more, our Marathon Man, has been walking for exercise. Participating in the National Veterans Golden Age Games, he took home the gold in power walking! After moving to Clark Meadows, he continued to exercise at the VAMC in Canandaigua, using the pool and also walking the track. With the onset of Covid-19, his trips to the VA have been curtailed. Not one to sit down for long, this gentleman started walking the halls and the nature path around the community, weather permitting. Residents and staff alike wanted to know how many miles he was walking. With a pedometer attached, and a starting day of Friday, April 24th through Friday, May 1st, our Marathon Man, 88 years of age, completed 29 miles! From our gold medal winner.....he states, " The whole idea is to encourage others to keep moving if they see me walking. It's about keeping healthy in our community."
