What a morning!  We have a very proud grandma in our midst.  We watched this morning as her grandson, Andrew Campbell, tactician for New York Yacht Club American Magic, and his team won race 6 of the Louis Vuitton Cup Semi Finals.  Clark Meadows erupted into cheers as the winner was determined!  We can't wait for the next race!  Go Andrew!!!!

When one of our residents was unable to attend her granddaughter's wedding ceremony Melissa from our activities department was there to help.  She even dressed for the occasion!  With champaign in one hand and her laptop in the other she arrived in time to set up for the big event.  Our resident, Jane, was all smiles and happy tears as she watched her family come by and wave via zoom. Theses pictures tell it all!  Congratulations to the happy couple and to their loving Grandma!

The story of the Mercury 7

This week, one of our residents presented a very interesting story about Space activity for the last 60 years.  His PowerPoint was presented to others who were captivated during the hour long talk.  Starting with President Kennedy's challenge to the country in 1961 that "before this decade is out, we will land a man on the Moon and return him safely to the Earth", the lecture went on to review the country's response to this challenge.  Starting with the story of the Mercury 7, the original class of 7 astronauts that led to the Mercury Project.  This was followed by several more classes of astronauts to include the Gemini Project, followed by the Apollo Project.  The 11th Apollo flight culminated in meeting the challenge with Neil Armstrong walking on the moon and the safe return of the crew of 3 astronauts safely back to earth.

Today we have the International Space Station that has been in Earth orbit for more than 20 continuous years of operation.  The residents are still talking about this lecture.  Thank you for your hard work!
