Where's the Beef?

For the answer, look no further than Ferris Hills at West Lake in Canandaigua, NY

The 10th Annual Chef & Sip Challenge was held yesterday at the Hotel Canandaigua. It was presented by the Canandaigua Kiwanis Club.

Our Chefs, Daniel Cobb and Julie Woloson offered up Yankee Pot Roast and Mashed Potatoes garnished with puff pastry/carmalized onion & chive.  It was a feast for the senses and they came home with the prize of Most Creative!  Congratulations to these talented chefs!

Lots of familiar faces in the photos.  You will see some of our wait staff, Matt Pelton and Kaylee White, out enjoying the day along with retired Executive Director, Aimee Ward. The venue was beautiful, the competition was fierce, but there was great camaraderie among the many talented chefs.  There is so much talent in this region of the Finger Lakes and we are fortunate to have some of that talent right here at Ferris Hills and Clark Meadows.

"I'm a poet and didn't even know it!"

Congratulations to our Poets!  Please enjoy their work.

Ode to my Cart

Oh sturdy cart so faithful and true....what would I do without you?  Always full of appropriate supplies, so that no mess comes with a surprise!  Gloves, sprays, brushes and rags...not to forget, the many sized bags.  A broom, a bucket and handy mop, I can clean all day without a stop.  Add a license plate & a rubber ducky horn and wadda ya know, a housekeeper is born.

Winter View

White snow covers the winter world beyond my window, while soft streaks of vapor, yellow and red, stretch across the easterly sky.  We have a glimpse of God's orderly plan, of which we humans know only a tiny fraction.  How beautiful is all that we see before us!  Spring and Summer will arrive when they're due; The earth will continue to spin on its axis.  On some future day, I hope to meet my relatives, long-long gone, but eager to see me again.  That, too, will be a beautiful day!

Winter

Roses are red, so it is said, and violets are blue, I know that is true.  In upstate NY we all pop a cork: Winter is here.  Time for snowmen, snow angels, maple sundaes and pancakes, and the blessed virginity of new fallen flakes...Winter has come!

My Clark Meadows Family

Families are larger than nuclear and extended.  Families are the every day people in our lives.  Families are present every day, all year.  Families spend holidays together because they care.  To my everyday family, I wish you a Happy Valentines Day.
