The Barbie Movie

What is it about the Barbie Movie that is creating so much attention?

Ok.  So we clearly had a lot of fun showing the Barbie Movie in Rayburn Hall on Friday.  The pre-party was a hoot!  The energy our residents brought to the event was palpable.

It's a fun movie, but since I'm blogging on a website for a Senior Community, I thought I might dig deeper and my attention went to the bench scene.  Academy award winning, fashion designer, Ann Roth, meets Barbie on a bench where Barbie looks at this elderly woman and says, "you're beautiful," and Ann Roth responds, "I know it."  There it is!!!  Women talking to each other through generations.  Barbie's decision to leave Barbieland and embrace the discomforts of the human experience and to see beauty in aging are some of the themes in the movie.

There was magic in the air on friday as we drank pink cocktails, ate pink popcorn, and enjoyed each other as modern women living in challenging times.

Recognizing our Shining Stars here in the community!

Every year, Thompson Health recognizes associates who go above and beyond, and exemplify the CARES values.  These include Commitment, Action, Respect, Excellence and Service.  These values drive the associates and volunteers alike, both within the health system and beyond.

This year, at Senior communities, Bonnie Moulton, Nutrition Services was recognized with a shining star. Bonnie knows what each of the resident preferences are and goes out of her way to meet and exceed their expectations.  She enjoys baking and creating interesting dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  With staffing challenges, Bonnie has stepped up to help and genuinely wants the team to succeed.  Congratulations Bonnie!

Also, this year at Senior communities, Samantha Stull, Environmental Services received a shining star.  Known for her smile and her laugh, Sam is a hard worker who always treats senior communities residents with patience and respect.  Sam has taken on the supervisor position, where she is shining brighter than ever.  She continually looks to make improvements to increase efficiency and enhance resident satisfaction....doing whatever it takes to get the job done!  Congratulations Sam!
