Lynne Standish / Monday, May 9, 2022 / Categories: Ferris Hills Events, Ferris Hills Blog And they're off! They say it is the most exciting two minutes in sports! Residents at Ferris Hills held their own Kentucky Derby party Friday afternoon. Mint Julep's were being served, along with Makers Mark, wine and beer choices. The famous "Hot Brown" sandwich was served as well. This American hot sandwich was created at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky in 1926. It is a variation of traditional Welsh rarebit. With everyone in their finest Derby hats, they were ready to place their bets on their horses....all in fun, as they participated in their own "races". The number one horse, Poncho Pinata took first place! As we all know by now, the real winner at the Derby was Rich Strike! If you watched the race this past weekend, you will agree that this was the most exciting two minutes in sports! Previous Article Pet rocks anyone? Next Article Recognizing our Shining Star!
