Happy New Year!

Singer, Mike Burrell, entertained residents and staff at our New Year's Eve party as we celebrated the start of 2019.  After the residents finished their dinner of lobster and filet mignon there was barely room for the banana flambé and chocolate truffles, but a few found space.  Resident Services Manager, Claire Watson said,  "Another great party with amazing people, I am blessed to be a part of this family."

Residents and staff love getting together over the holidays to celebrate the season and all that it brings.  Staff enjoy being off-duty and able to socialize with the residents at the annual party.  Great food and drinks whilst sharing a few laughs are what the holidays are all about!

Halloween is always a fun time at the community.  Clark Meadows and Ferris Hills residents certainly get into the party spirit and are not afraid to dress up!

Prizes for the best costumes were awarded, cocktails were mixed and the food was spook-tacular.

Catching A Ball Game, Creating Memories

Catching A Ball Game, Creating Memories

Residents of Ferris Hills enjoyed all the peanuts, cracker jacks, and at-bats they could handle during a field trip to attend a Rochester Red Wings baseball game.

The Red Wings played the Buffalo Bisons on this warm Tuesday night in a game which proved to be very evenly matched – keeping the crowd engaged through all of the innings.  The game was at home for the Red Wings at Frontier Field in downtown Rochester, NY – about a 45 minute drive from
Ferris Hills.

The Rochester Red Wings are considered a Class AAA minor league team which has provided American’s Favorite Pastime to the greater Monroe County and Finger Lakes for over a century.  Founded in 1899, it boasts the distinction of being the oldest continuously operating sports franchise in North America (below the major league level).

As a mid-game surprise, baseball legend Steve Garvey was flown in to speak to the crowd.  He was a former first-baseman for the L.A. Dodgers and the winner of the 1974 National League Most Valuable Player Award.  He addressed the fans from center field, and his talk added to the enjoyment and enrichment of the evening.

Ferris Hills residents were also able to be at a Red Wings game during a special time in their 2017 season – when they announced that they’ll become the Rochester Plates for one game only later this summer in August.

Why the “Plates”?  It’s a nod to Rochester’s famous Garbage Plate, an indulgent meal of mac salad, home fries, mean, and topped with special meat sauce and condiments.  Special hats have been made to commemorate the occasion.

After an enjoyable evening of competitive baseball, the Red Wings edged out the Buffalo Bisons, winning the game 4-3.  The shuttle retuned all

Ferris Hills residents home in Canandaigua, satisfyingly exhausted and bellies full after a fun evening at the stadium.
