We provide a unique setting and wide variety of health and wellness programs to help residents achieve their highest level of spirit, mind and body well-being. We provide an environment and staff which encourage and support healthy behaviors, positive relationships, ongoing learning and continued growth to help residents achieve a sense of life purpose and satisfaction. We have a Lifestyle Coordinator on staff.

YMCA 32 North Main St,, Canandaigua
Older Active Adult Program 1:30-2:30 p.m. Thursday-Friday 2:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday Use of the pool, gym, track and fitness and cardio centers. Exercise on your own, or work with a program to meet your needs. The Canandaigua YMCA also hosts the SilverSneakers Program. On-Site Medical Care
At Ferris Hills at West Lake, residents can receive on-site medical care through the UR Medicine Geriatrics Group. Affiliated with the University of Rochester Medical Center, the group offers comprehensive services including routine physical exams, acute sick visits and mobile x-rays. If a resident needs to see a specialist, the group’s physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants – all of whom are specially trained in the care of older adults – can also provide referrals. Nutrition Counseling
To schedule an appointment in your home, contact the Resident Services Manager. This is a fee-for-service program and many insurance carriers, including Medicare, cover the cost.
Healing Pathways
Healing Pathways is an eight-week program for people with ongoing or long-term illnesses or other sources of chronic stress. This program is designed to complement your medical treatment and to strengthen your skills in managing stressors that could impair your quality of life. Classes are scheduled on an on-going basis, and are announced via the Resident's Lifestyle & Wellness Calendar and Weekly Updates.
PHARMACY IN A BAG
Medication checks are offered every six months by Thompson Health Pharmacists. This program gives you the opportunity to have all your medications and supplements evaluated by a pharmacist in the privacy of the Resident Conference Room. These sessions are announced via the Monthly Activity Calendar and Weekly Updates.
PRESCRIPTION DELIVERY SERVICE
Prescription delivery service is available to all residents through The Medicine Shoppe, Walgreens, Wegmans and Rite Aid. No charge for delivery service. Arrangements can be made through the Resident Services Desk.
BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING**
A nurse offers blood pressure screenings and weight checks the first Wednesday of each month in the Fitness center. **A blood pressure machine is also available to monitor your own blood pressure daily. The machine is located in the Fitness Center. Orientation for the blood pressure machine is available by contacting the Resident Services Desk.
LECTURES
Health and Wellness lectures are offered throughout the year in partnership with Thompson Health. They are publicized via the monthly Residents' Lifestyle & Wellness Calendar and the Weekly Updates
HEARING
Finger Lakes Hearing Center offers on-site appointments for screenings and hearing aid adjustments. The Practitioner will bill your insurance for appropriate services. Co-pays may apply. Appointments are made directly at Finger Lakes Hearing Center. The telephone number is 396-1120.
FLU SHOT CLINICS
The Resident Services Manager arranges on site Flu Shot Clinics for your convenience. You can obtain your yearly flu shot without making an appointment with your physician.
AIDE SERVICES
The Resident Services Manager can refer to a home health agency. Fees vary depending on services provided. Residents will pay privately and services cannot be billed to your account.
PHYSICIAN REFERRAL ASSISTANCE
The Resident Services Manager has a current listing of primary care physicians and specialists who are accepting new patients.
